Robi Smith, Principal

In 1997, I graduated with an honours degree in journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa. I never intended to become a journalist, but I knew I wanted to write. I started Blue Lantern Communications as a way to help others fulfill their communications needs.

Over the past 14+ years, I've worked with government scientists, policy makers, non-profit arts and environmental organizations, and individuals. My projects have ranged from writing and editing, to public and media relations, to event management. I've written and edited a wide range of communications materials, from small grant applications through to lengthy reports tabled in the provincial legislature. I've written speeches for federal ministers, and news releases that have resulted in front page newspaper coverage. I love it all.

Since childhood, I've also had a passion for creating visual art. Alongside my writing career I've been building my reputation as a painter and collage artist. If you're curious about that side of my life, please check out Blue Lantern Studio.
